After one of the most dominant regular seasons that we have ever seen, Elkhart came into the 2025 Postseason as the favorite to win their first ever World Series title. After exiting the league for a few years after a trip to the World Series in 2020, the Elkhart BFAM franchise returned to the league in 2024 picking up right where they left off.
Elkhart put together an amazing season in 2024 before one of the greatest Postseason upsets in ORWBL history as the young upstart Mill Pond Pink Pandas shocked the Wiffleball world by eliminating BFAM in the ALCS. Fast forward to 2025 as we saw Elkhart on a mission from Opening Day all the way until they clinched the World Series.
That Loss to Mill Pond in the 2024 ALCS kickstarted what would end up being one of the greatest all around seasons in ORWBL history by a team. Elkhart wasted no time in 2025 as they came out of the gates on another level from the start. Elkhart finished the regular season with a nearly perfect record of 29-1 as they mowed through their competition. BFAM's .967 Win % was the 2nd highest in regular season history, finishing only behind the LaPorte Sox from 2008.
Elkhart kicked off their 2025 Postseason journey taking on the Green Stem Great Lakes Godfathers in the Best of 3 Wild Card Round. BFAM won both of those games before switching focus to the Lakeport Bombers. Elkhart took Game 1 by the score of 18-9 before dropping Game 2, 12-8 to force a winner take all Game 3. The pressure was all on Elkhart who was now on the brink of being eliminated in the ALDS after losing in the ALCS in 2024.
Game 3 ended up being one for the ages as Elkhart was able to win a 10-9 thriller over Lakeport to advance to the American League Championship Series for the 1st time in team history after playing in the National League back during their first stint in the league. This was just a massive win for Elkhart as they had to be feeling the pressure from a phenomenal young team in Lakeport who had World Series aspirations of their own.
While the ALDS was a close call, Elkhart carried their momentum from their Game 3 win over Lakeport into Magic Park. After eliminating the Magic in the 2024 ALDS, Elkhart's good fortune over Maple City continued in the 2025 regular season as they swept the Magic at home. BFAM then went into LaPorte and took Games 1 & 2 of the ALCS by the scores of 8-4, 9-6.
It was a massive blow to Maple City who has historically played very well at home in the Postseason. With the series shifting back to Elkhart, things seemed pretty hopeless for Maple City at the start of the day. The 4x World Series Champions did not go down without a fight however as they ended up winning Game 3 of the series, 13-11.
Maple City's momentum carried into Game 2 as the tide had completely shifted in the Magic's favor. With Elkhart now feeling all of the pressure, Maple City got out to a bit of a lead in Game 4 before Elkhart slowly chipped away over the later innings. After a back and forth battle, Maple City held a lead heading into the bottom half of the 6th inning. The Magic were just 1 out away from forcing a decisive Game 5 before the soon to be hero Scott Bartley came up to the plate.
Playing on a team loaded with Award winners, it was none other than Scott Bartley who belted the Pennant clinching walk-off Home Run to send Elkhart BFAM to the World Series. It was an absolute madhouse at The Lot as this ended up being one of the most memorable moments in League Championship Series history. It was definitely one of those special moments in ORWBL history as Bartley's Walk-off Home Run showcased the depth of this team.
After a thrilling Pennant win, Elkhart then shifted their attention to the Granger Panthers who would be making their 4th ORWBL World Series appearance while seeking their 2nd Title. Elkhart started this series as they did every other one in 2025 by winning Game 1 by the score of 12-9. It would end up being the most competitive game of the World Series as BFAM would roll the rest of the way to a title.
Granger put up a fight in Game 3 as they looked to get back into the series. Despite Granger's fight, the lineup of Brandon Terry, Walter Griffin III, Andy Sieradzki, Josh Trim, Scott Bartley, and Nick Fritz would be too much to overcome. Every time Granger was on the doorstep, BFAM would bounce right back and gain some separation. When things had gotten tight in Game 3. This game would prove to be the memorable one for World Series MVP Nick Fritz who had multiple back breaking Home Runs, ending any hope that Granger had.
Fritz finished Game 3 with 4 Home Runs as the World Series MVP clubbed 7 total Homers in the 2025 ORWBL World Series. Gold Glove winner Brandon Terry's hands were on full display as he made multiple jaw dropping plays on Defense throughout the series. Reigning AL Cy Young Award Winner Walter Griffin III was a true workhorse on the mound as he won all 29 regular season games on the mound for Elkhart before being the Winning Pitcher in all 11 Postseason games. It was an absurd season for Walter Griffin III who took his performance to another level both at the plate and on the mound.
The 2025 ORWBL World Series wrapped up at The Lot as BFAM celebrated arguably the most dominant season from start to finish in League History. After a 29-1 regular season, Elkhart plowed through the Postseason by going 11-2 as they finished with a 40-3 overall record en route to their 1st World Series Title in Franchise history. It was a special season for this group as they vowed to bring an ORWBL World Series Championship to Elkhart and delivered one and absolutely dominant fashion.
